Landscape and silence

’Landscape and silence’ 2016

photographic color etchings (series of 9)

Kasteel Tongelaar, Mill, The Netherlands, March-June 2016

Esther van Waalwijk made for this exhibition a series of 9 photographic color etchings inspired by the Scottisch landscape. In this printing technique the originally digital photos undergo color separation (CMYK). For each color an etching plate was made. These plates were inked by hand and, in four passes of a traditional press, printed on etching paper. By using this slow delicate technique, Esther shows the colorful but desolate Scottish landscape in a poetic way.
